sponsor feature: stylings and stories

I'm very excited to introduce to you Stephanie of Stylings and Stories. Her blog is mostly about design, branding, style, music, and her adventures as a newbie entrepreneur. Stephanie is an ambitious woman who loves to write and isn't afraid to challenge herself. Make sure to check her out on Twitter and Jump - a digital guide for entrepreneurs.

Tell me a little bit about yourself

Where to start! I’m Stephanie, the owner and creator of Stylings & Stories where I’m a Creative Consultant helping entrepreneurs build beautiful and profitable blogs. My passion lies in writing, which started when I was nine, writing (really weird) songs for my family. I now write fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction (like blogs & memoirs). My dream is to write a memoir of life growing up in small-town Alberta (Canada eh!) I’d also like to write a children’s storybook one day. Maybe when I have little shorties of my own! Right now my biggest focuses are my new consulting services and a digital guide for newbie entrepreneurs called Jump! Into Your Business, Your Life, Your Dream  It’s really all the stuff me & my co-writer, Ashley, learned through trial and error starting our own businesses. Ya know, the stuff we wish someone would have told us starting out!

Why did you start your own blog / business?

Stylings & Stories started when I was taking a web design course last February. I was loving the new skills and wanted to practice them, plus build a portfolio in the meantime. At the same time, I was reading a lot of blogs, like this one, and felt so inspired by the brilliant women who were running their own businesses, blogging, and basically living the dream. One of my web teachers actually hired me right out of the program for a little contract work and that sparked my confidence to wander into the world of entrepreneurship. It’s been interesting. Since starting Stylings & Stories, I’ve been both the most chaotic and the most productive I’ve ever been in my life.

If you could pass on a piece of advice or something you've learned from blogging or owning a business what would it be?

Things may not turn out as you expect, but don’t be discouraged by this. Invest in your business (and yourself), seek out other like-minded entrepreneurs, plan but follow the flow, take breaks, and never ever ever give up.

Anything else you would like to say?

I feel really lucky to be doing what I’m doing. And, I absolutely love working with coaches and creatives who are inspired to follow their passions. It’s hard to navigate the wild online world and I get to guide amazing entrepreneurs into their dreams through creative consulting services and eBooks. I love it. Thanks for having me on your blog, Jenny.
