hello, home: project list

It's been just 2 weeks since we moved into our new house. We still have a lot of unpacking to do and don't even get me started on organizing, but we are slowly making progress. :) Our main priorities after moving were to get the living room and kitchen in functioning order and I'm happy to say we've successfully done that. Another one of our priorities was painting. Our new home was blessed to have wood trim and doors throughout the entire house - making it a little too dark for my liking. So, I've been working room by room painting walls and trim. Drew and I love making our house more of a home and have a very long list of to do's for each room in the house. I've listed out below our goals for each room and photos of our progress so far. But first, here's a general layout so you understand where everything is.

So here is our list of projects for each room and the before and progress photos.

LIVING ROOM

* Paint trim white (bottom trim still needs painting but will wait until we redo the floors)

* Add curtains

* Fix fireplace backing

* Add wood logs to fireplace

* Build white built-in bookshelves on either side of fireplace, TV will go in the one on the left

* Take out carpet and replace with hard wood floors

* Fix outlets on left side of wall that don't work

* Replace side tables

* Add pipe shelving desk (like this one) to the corner where the Christmas tree is currently

* Build a fish tank between windows

* Build a 4' x 4' coffee table

* Add a cowhide rug
* Replace ceiling fan with overhead light

HALLWAY

* Paint trim white

* Paint walls
* Paint doors white

* Add long table on left wall

* Add artwork

* Replace lighting

KITCHEN

* Paint trim white
* Paint walls

* Paint the kitchen cabinets (currently they are an off-white and I'd love them to be the same bright white as the hutch and trim)
* Replace hardware on the cabinets
* Touch up trim paint
* Paint door and 2 windows white (currently they are wood like the rest of the trim and doors in the house)
* Replace appliances (stage 2)
* Update door hardware
* Add an island or butcher block table
* Potentially take out top of the wall between the kitchen and dining room to open it up (stage 2)
* Potentially add french doors to the screened porch, replacing the current door and single window

DINING ROOM

* Paint trim white

* Paint windows white
*Add curtains

* Add long buffet table on far wall

* Add artwork

* Replace lighting
*Replace carpet with hard wood floors
*Paint walls

GUEST ROOM

* Paint trim, windows, and doors white

*Add curtains

* Add artwork

* Create a space for arts and crafts

* Replace lighting
*Paint walls

SUNROOM/DECK

* Refinish deck floors

*Add outdoor furniture

* Create a fun space for the cats

BABY ROOM

* Paint trim, windows, and doors white
* Paint walls
* Add baby furniture

*Add artwork
* Add curtains

* Add a window seat that opens up with extra storage

MASTER BEDROOM

* Paint trim, windows, and doors white
* Create a wood palette wall behind bed

*Add artwork
* Add curtains

* Add a window desk nook where I can do my makeup
* Organize closets
* Update ceiling fan
* Add comfy rugs

So that's our project list for now! I'm sure it will continue to grow as we settle in, but we are excited to get things started :) I can't wait to start coming up with a decorating plan for the baby room :) To see more of my ideas for decorating each room, visit my Pinterest boards!
