Tell me a little bit about yourself

My name is Laina Turner. I’m an author (with 5 fans, maybe 6 now), entrepreneur, college professor, and more importantly divorced mom who, even at over-40, has no idea what I want to do when I grow up. I just know I want to be the best in whatever it is I do. I love coffee, shopping, and reading almost as much as I love sending time with my kiddos who really keep me hopping.

Why did you start your own blog / business?

I’ve been a business owner for years and have had a blog in some form or another since 2009 but was more a dabbler than a true blogger. I realized I loved blogging and the aspects surrounding my blog better than the other things I was doing for an income and finally realized I needed to be serious and treat my blog as a business. If nothing else I knew I would enjoy the experience.

What's something you've learned from blogging or owning a business?

Be consistent and don’t give up. Blogging isn’t an instant gratification profession. It takes time to figure out what you're doing, or supposed to be doing, and to build a following. If you stay the course even when it seems like you aren’t making any progress you will see movement forward. It’s all about slow, incremental growth.

Anything else you would like to say?

One of the things I love about blogging is the amazing people I have met. It’s such a great way to make friends and learn new things.
