guest bathroom inspiration
I've been wanting to do something dramatic to our downstairs guest bathroom and I think I've finally come up with a plan! I really wanted our downstairs bathroom to be artistic, dramatic, and bold. I think bathrooms are the perfect place to play with colors and try things you wouldn't normally, so that's the plan.
Paint
I decided to go black on the walls - I thought about doing a bright color, but really think black will be dramatic, sophisticated, and make the artwork and bright accent colors in the rest of the room really pop! The trim will also need to be painted bright white as currently it is all wood.
Artwork
I want to keep the artwork and patterns in the room mostly abstract with some watercolor and oil paintings like this one from
and this one from
.
Colors
For the accent colors in the room, I wanted to go really bright and bold. I'll be painting the cabinet under the sink a salmon/coral color and I'm thinking I might paint the linen closet door the same! Most of the artwork will have blues, greens, and golds.
Fabric
For the window treatment, I want to do something similar to
and create a small roman shade out of a brightly printed fabric. I already have a white shower curtain in there and I'm thinking I'll raise the curtain to the ceiling and then use the same fabric as the window treatment to add a small border on the bottom of the shower curtain - adding just a peek of color there. I'll add a white rug (
) to the floor to finish things off.
Hardware
The room already has gold hardware and a gold rectangular mirror - which I think will end up looking gorgeous with the rest of the room.
I am hoping to start taking down the yellow floral wallpaper in there in the next few weeks! Then I can get started painting :) I'm so excited to see where this room goes!
