1st trimester must haves
1 // Cheerios - During this first trimester, I have been extremely nauseous almost every day for the whole day. For me, "morning sickness" was not the case. "All day queasiness" was more like it. Eating small bite-size meals every 2-3 hours was one of the only things that helped. Bland foods like cheerios, oatmeal, and yogurt got me through those "I'm so hungry but if I eat I will get sick" phases. :)
2 // Prenatal Vitamins - Once you find out you're pregnant, it's good to go ahead and start making a habit of taking your prenatal vitamins (make sure they have DHA!). The mistake I first made was to take them in the morning or early afternoon. This made me sick every time. But once I started to take them right before I fell asleep, I was completely fine.
3 // BKR Water Bottle - I love my BKR water bottle. It's easy to carry around and to wash and I love that it's glass. And since I have been drinking a TON of water since getting pregnant (thirsty all the time!) I've had my water bottle by my side or in my purse constantly.
4 // Comfy Cardigans - Since it's fall during this time that I've been in my 1st trimester, it's been wonderful for me to have some comfy cardigans and flowy shirts to wear around the house. Even though I work from home most days, I still like to make myself shower and get out of my pajamas so that I feel a little more like myself. Having some comfy daytime clothes to wear that make you feel like you're still cozy and have room to breathe is really important.
5 // Fruit - Besides taking lots of walks, eating fruit has been one of the only other things that has made me feel good when I've been extremely tired. And it's something that I've consistently craved.
6 // Comfy Shoes - Like I said before, I try to get fully dressed every day, however I've been making sure to dress comfortably so I feel my best. Wearing my Minnetonka Deerskin Moccasins is similar to wearing house shoes, except I can go run errands in them! :) They are the most comfortable shoes I own.
7 // Dental Hygiene - I've read everywhere that dental hygiene is extremely important for pregnant women. My husband and I love this water pick that we got and have been using. It's better than flossing and your mouth feels so clean afterwards! I also love that it comes with multiple picks so that my husband and I can both use it.
8 // Bella Band - A true lifesaver. In the past few weeks as my belly has begun to show, wearing a bella band over my regular pants has been wonderful. It makes me feel more comfortable, hides what needs to be hidden, and looks like a tank top under my shirts. So glad I bought this!
9 // Mints - I carry peppermint or wintergreen mints or chewing gum in my purse for emergency queasiness situations. If I start to feel the least bit nauseous, I just pop a mint in my mouth and usually the sickness would subside shortly after.
