uniquely you: clothing swaps

It's true. I love clothes. It's also true that there's hardly any money in our budget to buy clothes. So what is the solution? Go without clothes? Well, I could go without clothes but I don't think that would be socially appropriate...  OR ... I could swap clothes with my friends and have new-to-me clothes! About 2 years ago, Savannah and I decided to begin hosting clothing swaps with some of our friends in the Atlanta area every few months. We had run into this very dilema of wanting new clothes and having a lot of clothes that didn't fit right or just weren't our colors/style. So instead of just throwing them out and buying new ones, we decided to gather some friends every season to do a clothing swap!

SO ... HOW DOES IT WORK?

We all bring our clothes, accessories, shoes, etc. and set up a little "shop" in the living room. Then, we each put our name in a jar and for every section (tops, bottoms, accessories, shoes, jackets... ) we draw one name at a time until everyone is done and ready to move to the next section. Doing it by section allows people the opportunity to pick first out of at least one of the sections and allows us to go through that section until everything is picked over. At the end, we either do a "free for all" of everything left or, my favorite thing we've done recently is to have everyone pick out one piece for each person in the group. This is fun because sometimes someone else will see a piece of clothing that would work great on you that you just passed by. Then, the stuff that's left we donate!

I've found many great pieces at clothing swaps!!
