parachute cord statement necklace
Recently, I saw this beautiful necklace tutorial and really wanted to try some different versions because I loved how inexpensive it was and what a statement it made. I also love the variety of colors you can find parachute cord in! I found 16ft of cord for $2.50 at my local craft store! Wowzers! What a deal!

I hope you enjoy trying out your own statement necklace! I'm hoping to find some other neat ways to use this stuff in the future.
SUPPLIES
- 1 pack or at least 14 feet per necklace of Parachute cord - I found mine here
- Chain
- Tape - I used Duct Tape
- Paint or gold leafing
- Tacky glue
HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN
- Cut 9-12 strands of parachute cord into 12 inch strips. You can cut them shorter or longer, depending on how long you want your necklace.
- Tape one end of the strands securely using duct tape.
- Braid or fishtail your strands on a level surface, making sure to keep all of the pieces flat so that they do not overlap.
- Tape the other end securely using duct tape.
- Cut your chain in half and attach each open end with either more tape or tacky glue. If you use tacky glue, be sure to let it dry for up to 24 hours before proceeding to the next step.
- Once your chain is secure, decorate the taped area with either gold leafing or paint. I chose to use gold leafing since I had some extra leftover from decorating Savannah's coffee table that Drew built. Let dry for 24 hours before wearing.
- Optional: Apply polyurethane or a gloss finish afterwards to stop any extra gold leafing from coming loose.
