live painting

Last night, I had the opportunity to go back to the college program I was in to do a live painting during an event they were having to celebrate the past 10 years. I stood up on stage and, for an hour, painted while the leaders spoke about their calling to students to step up in leadership. The focus of the night was on the words who will - which I incorporated into the painting in the tree branches - do you spy the "who will" in the tree branches of the painting? At the end of the night, the students came up and put their fingerprints on those branches as a symbol of their commitment to be leaders among their peers and in the world. It was really cool.

I didn't expect it to be so difficult to do a live painting in an hour. I'm such a perfectionist that it's really hard for me to walk away after just an hour when there is still so much that can be done! But, I feel like it turned out well for the time that I had. I was also unexpectedly overwhelmed with nostalgia and emotion being back there. This place was not only my home while I was in college, but it holds a special passion in my heart and I dearly miss the leadership.
