diy: nature's painter

Happy Halloween! We aren't planning to go out tonight, but we are looking forward to dressing up for a Halloween party this weekend with friends. I'm thinking I will go as Katniss from The Hunger Games. Drew isn't sure what he will be yet. I don't know why he didn't take my suggestion of a vampire cheerleader. :) Hahaha.

Anyways. I've been painting a lot, reorganizing, and trying to find some great storage solutions for all of our crap lovely things. Our apartment doesn't have too much storage space, so I have to find creative solutions to make things work. While Drew was gone last week, I went through our guest closet and threw out a car load (seriously, my entire back seat and trunk were full) of things we just didn't need to keep. Afterwards, I started the process of organizing the closet to be functional - I hope to show you pictures soon. During the organizing, I realized I need a better way to store my art and craft supplies. I have so many art supplies and usually they get dumped in a bag together and end up breaking or I end up only using what's on top.

So, here is my first project for my art supplies. I took an old, dried out piece of wood and drilled various holes into it. Voila! A nice way to display my paintbrushes and pencils.

Next on the list is a way to store the rest of my loads of markers and colored pencils that is accessible and attractive.
