project: art 8.10.12
As I promised, here are the beginnings of my "Project: Art" --> my attempt to rediscover my love and passion for art. I've always been an artist. Growing up, I loved to doodle and draw and I would attend art camp every summer. In high school, I drew portraits for people and painted murals. I took every art class at my school and even won a few awards. I can't remember a time in my life that art wasn't a part of it. My friends and family knew me as "the artist."
It wasn't until late in college that I lost my fire for it. And it really wasn't so much that I lost my fire as it was that I became too busy and didn't make time for it. I would come home and be so exhausted and my brain so fried that I didn't ever feel like painting. And because of that, I didn't.
But, I don't want the fact that I'm busy and exhausted to prevent me from something I love. Life is only going to get more crazy and so if I don't set aside specific time for art (and exercise and journaling - but we'll get to that in another post!) then it will never happen.
So, here we go.This is my accountability to continue creating art on a regular basis. My hope is to do one or two projects every month and to post about them for you. Here are the two projects I've done recently - both are fairly large (24 x 36 inches). The top painting was inspired by the salad plates I received as a wedding gift. The bottom one was inspired by the barn where we were married near Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
